Enhancing Habitat at Jim Bob Park in Benjamin, Texas
The Big Country Chapter of Texas Master Naturalist is proud to announce that we have been awarded a pollinator grant to support habitat enhancement at Jim Bob Park in Benjamin, Texas.
This exciting opportunity allows us to further our mission of conservation, education, and stewardship by creating a space that supports pollinators while enriching the local community.
About the Project
This project expands pollinator habitat within Jim Bob Park, a 250-acre site located in the Narrows of Knox County. An additional 4,000 square feet of pollinator-friendly space will be created, supported by educational and community engagement opportunities in this geographically unique region that divides the Wichita and Brazos watersheds.
Through the use of native plants and sustainable practices, this project will create a thriving environment for bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects.
Our goal is to establish a space that is:
- Beneficial to pollinators and local wildlife
- Educational for visitors of all ages
- Sustainable and suited for the West Texas climate
- A lasting asset for the Benjamin community
This project reflects our commitment to protecting natural resources while creating meaningful connections between people and nature.

Why Pollinators Matter
Pollinators are essential to the health of our ecosystems and play a critical role in supporting plant life and food production.
By creating pollinator habitat, we help:
- Support declining pollinator populations
- Encourage native plant growth
- Strengthen biodiversity
- Improve ecosystem resilience
- Provide hands-on learning opportunities
Even small habitat improvements can make a big impact, and this project is a meaningful step toward a healthier and more sustainable environment.
Community Impact
This project is more than a garden—it is an investment in the community.
Jim Bob Park will become a space where:
- Families can explore and learn about nature
- Visitors can experience native Texas landscapes
- Volunteers can contribute to conservation efforts
- Education and stewardship come together
The Big Country Chapter is honored to help bring this vision to life and create something that will benefit the community for years to come.
