What is a Star Party?
A star party is a gathering of people who come together to explore and learn about the night sky. Volunteers and amateur astronomers bring telescopes and share their knowledge, helping you view the moon, planets, stars, and other fascinating celestial objects.
No experience is needed—and you do not have to be a Master Naturalist to attend. Everyone is welcome!
What Should I Know Before I Come?
- Arrive before dark if possible so you can easily find our location in the park
- Dim your headlights when entering the viewing area to protect night vision
- Avoid white lights—use red light if you have it (or cover a flashlight with red cellophane)
- Dress for the weather—nights can get cool, especially in fall and winter
- No telescope? No problem! We’ll have plenty available for you to use

All Star Parties are held at Abilene State Park – 150 Park Road 32, Tuscola, TX 79562
