Presentation: Collin County Croakers!: An Introduction to the Identification and Life History of Local Frogs and Toads
About Our Speaker: Born and raised in North Texas, Braeden Duffee has a lifelong passion for all things Texas wildlife! Braeden moved into the role of Nature Preserve Manager at the Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary in 2023, shortly after graduating with a B.S. in Ecology for Environmental Science from the University of North Texas (Go, Mean Green!). She spent time working as a Research Assistant in the Lichtenberg Lab through the Advanced Environmental Research Institute at UNT, studying plant-pollinator interactions, and has since had the opportunity to expand upon these unique experiences at the Heard. Some recent endeavors include bringing prescribed fire back into the Heard’s prairie management strategies, starting the Heard Wildlife Sanctuary FrogWatch Chapter in 2024 to continue building upon the amphibian population research conducted at the Heard by staff and volunteers in the early 2000s, as well as managing the Heard’s Bird Banding Station which has been in operation since 1978.
