Tina Burke, Class of 2024
Happy Valentine’s Day! I had the honor of making Valentine’s boxes this week at the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center. Our educational birds, called Ambassadors, need enrichment to entertain them and keep their minds active. It is one of my favorite activities, as I volunteer each week for the Education branch of the Raptor Center. With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, I grabbed some boxes, construction paper, glue, scissors, and other trinkets and crafted away. I must admit, Petunia, our black vulture, is a favorite of mine. I try to make her toys complicated and fun. Today, she received a Valentine’s “Chocolate” box, a converted Advent Calendar with rodent pieces tucked away in little muffin cups. It didn’t take her long to find those morsels and gobble them up!
Regards,
Tina
