BPTMN Newsletter – September 12, 2025

09/11/2025 by mconnally

Hello Blackland Prairie Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists, who is going mothing tomorrow night with the MOTH SQUAD at Connemara? It is our 4th Annual Connemara Mothing Event TOMORROW on Saturday, September 13, 7 pm – 9 pm

September’s newsletter is packed with Rick Travis‘s business slides, important dates to remember, and stories of how our Blackland Prairie Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists (BPTMN) is busy with a variety of conservation efforts. Gina McKnight has announced the opening of the Fall Grant Submission window, running from September 1st to September 30th. Jean Higgins is leading a plant rescue at Plano Oak Point Park on Thursday, September 18th. Vicki Sanders needs you this Fall to help with EcoExplorers Girl Scout events. For those who want to get their hands dirty, Katelyn Miller is co-chairing a Fall Seed Stomp at the Collin College Blackland Prairie Project on Saturday, September 20th.

In other updates, Vicki Sanders has made the Plant Lists from the August Deep Dive available. Kim Muzquiz provided an update on the native prairie plants rescue at Colmena Ranch. Mary Abercrombie and Paulette Platko share an update on the monthly Last Saturday workdays at McKinney Greens Gardens. Other BPTMN members have also been active in sharing their knowledge, with John W. Garbutt posting about “Finding Happiness Through Sharing Nature” and Fran Woodfin sharing an article titled “In Every Tree, a Trillion Tiny Lives.” Finally, Jackie Mette is sharing news on the “Time to Restore” Project.
