2021 August – Dr. Carly Aulicky | Insights of a Dancing Bird: Lessons Learned from Tropical Forests to Prairies

Charlise Hill-Larson, 2019 We are so pleased to welcome Dr. Carly Aulicky for our August Chapter Meeting. Carly is the North Texas Director of Outreach and Stewardship for the Native Prairies Association of Texas (NPAT). In her position, Carly acts as a resource and spokesperson for management and conservation of native prairies. Carly monitors NPAT properties and conservation easements, collects biodiversity data, holds educational workshops and talks, and coordinates volunteer efforts in programs and projects.

The Call of The Chattahoochee

Greg Tonian, 2017 The Chattahoochee flows from Blue Ridge Mountain
To Apalachicola Delta,
Past Helen and Suburban Atlanta.
These two places I visited,
The possibilities to explore, unlimited.

All was swell in Roswell.
Mostly Merry in Marietta.
Dallas Georgia family, also near,
Was mostly in the clear.
But like the river,
Clouded by ocassional rain,
Like the area roads,
Never without curves and dips,
Ups and downs.

Debbie Doyle, 2017 My classmates might remember me as the broken legged lady that could barely do squat! (Literally!) I am still indebted to my friend and classmate Greg Tonian, who drove me to classes and meetings for months when I couldn’t drive. Despite my slow start, I now feel like an essential team member at the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center, particularly during the Covid lockdown when BPRC operated with only a skeleton crew of volunteers.
