Come see Seabourne Creek Nature Park gardens

June 15, 2021 by pmdittrick

“Every garden and every gardener is a work in progress…when you invite somebody into your garden, you are inviting them to meet you,” writes photographer Freeman Patterson in his book The Garden. I suspect he would love to meet the Texas Master Naturalist Coastal Prairie Chapter gardeners.

Seabourne Creek Nature Park’s Butterfly and Demo gardens in Rosenberg are especially beautiful with many blooming flowers. As of mid June, the pergola expansion was under way in the butterfly garden.

Both the butterfly garden and the demo garden benefit from the efforts of TMNCPC gardeners, some of whom who come out to the gardens twice a week. Native flower and grass plantings are ongoing at SCNP.

TMNCPC Linda Lourim is developing an Edible Plants Garden plot in the Demo and habitat area. She already selected a dozen plant species, most of which have medicinal purposes. For example, people can use Turk’s cap leaves to relieve itching.
