March 9, 2021 by pmdittrick

A herd of 120-150 goats can be found this week at the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center where they are grazing in grass near the North Meadow Trail. Their last day at the arboretum for this outing is Thursday, March 11.

Rent-A-Ruminant provides the goats as an “eco-friendly” alternative to mowing unwanted vegetation.

The goats also visited the arboretum in October and November of 2020. They were in different areas last year. A map of the arboretum trials can be found online.

The non-profit arboretum and nature center is at 4501 Woodway Drive. Parking lots can be reached off Woodway or off the 610 Loop North service road between Buffalo Bayou and Woodway.

The arboretum is open daily with free admission although there is a parking fee except for Thursdays, when parking is free.
