For all things water, join the GLC Texas Waters group.

Members are encouraged to complete the online Texas Waters Specialist curriculum independently. The curriculum is nine chapters. If successfully completed, a member may record 1 hour of advanced training per chapter for a total of 9 hours. VMS opportunity: TX Waters Certfication Training.

This group will work together to identify and implement projects for our chapter addressing water issues.

  • Currently our chapter supports Adopt-a-Highway, which is an approved Texas Waters Specialist project (where do you think all that trash ends up when it rains?).
  • In 2024, we established a chapter water quality testing group in conjunction with the Texas Stream Team to complement existing water quality testing in conjunction with the Lower Colorado River Watch.
  • In 2025, we initiated a river cleanup project.
  • Two watersheds in our chapter area (Mill Creek in Washington County and Middle Yegua Creek in Lee County) have been identified as impaired watersheds, highlighting the need for water-related education.
