Learn the history of Texas Roadside Parks

Event Description:
Traveling Texas Roads: The Legacy of Roadside Parks
For many years, traveling Texans have stopped at roadside parks to take in the scenery, stretch their legs, and even picnic.
But do you know the history behind how it all got started?
Hear from a TxDOT historian, landscape architect and the director of Maintenance on May 26, 2021, at 1 p.m. CT to learn about the history of a young immigrant from the Netherlands who pioneered the look and use of Texas’ roadside parks. Find out “where are they now?” and how you can be part of TxDOT’s historic preservation process.
