Event Summary:
Basic Chainsaw Operations
Event Description:
Day one will be conducted in class with one brief outside exercise. The classroom portion is driven by instructor presentations,
classroom discussion, student questions, videos, and in-class demonstrations by the instructor some topics being covered are Saw Operator and Training Requirements, Skill Level and Certification, Personal Protective Equipment, Felling Process, Limbing and brushing, Bucking, Saw Team Operations, Traffic Control, Saw Maintenance and more
Day two will be conducted entirely in the field, and will consist of evaluator-led demonstrations of each
skill or task and hands-on practice of these tasks by the students. Each student should get to try each
skill or task at least once, and time allowing, until sufficiently comfortable.
