Event Date: 03/019/2022
Event Time: 9:00a-3:00p
Event Summary:
Learn the basics of beekeeping.
Event Description:
Introduction to Honeybees and Beekeeping was designed for those desiring to start beekeeping and/or new beekeepers in their first two years of beekeeping.
Course covers
Didactic class is followed up with a visit to the bee yard where participants will “suit up” and get their hands in the hives pulling frames and putting together what they just learned in the class.
If participant has their own bee suit it is encouraged to bring it. For those who do not have suits, one will be provided. Closed shoes required (no sneakers or cloth shoes) and no perfumes/aftershaves as we will be working in the bee yard for 1 1/2 hours.
Without understanding at a basic level these concepts you will experience more hardship and financial loss when you start up your hives as so much of what beekeepers do depends on this information. Plus, it’s just plain fascinating to see how these little critters function!
Class starts at 9:00 am and we work through lunch so bring some brown bag munchies for lunch time. Iced tea and water will be available.
Participants will sign a Class Release Waiver of Liability, Assumption of Risk and Indemnity Agreement.
Cost: $85
