Event Description:
This is part of a larger event at UBarU – our Spring Bioblitz and Worker Bee Weekend. Saturday activities include this presentation on native grasses and nature walk identifying grasses on campus at UBarU. There will be a second presentation after lunch on permaculture combined with a demonstration of making compost tea and assisting with its application at UBarU. This is part of the Worker Bee weekends are a chance to help put our campus in good shape. There will be a variety of tasks ranging from small to large, indoor and outdoor. This is the perfect time to get UBarU ready for summer camps, to do some maintenance, create some new things, enjoy nature, and socialize with others.
Attend part or all of the event. To attend just the Native Grass presentation and Nature walk, register for the day rate. Lunch is included. Presentation is at 9am followed by a Nature Walk and then lunch at 12:00
About the Presenter: Cleveland Powell is a plant enthusiast in the San Antonio area with a special interest in the grasses of Central North America. He has logged over 5000 observations and made over 20,000 identifications in iNaturalist, where he is known as prairie_rambler.
