Event Summary: Learn how to use a dichotomous key for plant identification

Event Description:

Learn by example. Kim Ort, botany expert and Master Naturalist will show us the process of identifying plants using a dichotomous key. After watching her identify a one plant, then another and another…., we will jump in and try our hand at ID’ing plants on our own. With enough practice, the process should come easy. As for the many, many botany terms. It’s like (it is) learning a new language. Start small and keep building from there. We will be walking and identifying ID plants along the relatively flat but scenic 1.3 mi Loop Trail at the Love Creek Preserve in Medina. PS. Black-Capped vireos, Golden-Cheeks and other cool birds will be our bonus finds.

Suggested : Dress appropriately for hiking, bring sun block, insect spray, binoculars/camera, notebook, cell phone with SEEK to confirm ID’s, drink, snacks or even a lunch of you wish to picnic on the preserve.
