A field trip to enhance the 2022 in-class training of archeology & geology

Albert & Bessie Kronkosky donated their family ranch to the State of Texas, for the purpose of preserving the natural habitat. The site is now run by Texas Parks & Wildlife. The 3,814 acre ranch is a treasure trove of history located in Pipe Creek. The geology and archeology are seemingly endless. In this guided tour, one can find hundreds of fossils in the creek beds. A walk further in, you can see a rock face tracing millions of years back in history. Each layer of rock is in a different geological time. This field trip highlights the uniqueness of the Texas Hill Country because students can witness first-hand the geology and archeology of the landscape. This area also hosts natural springs, which can be seen on the tour. ABK is an area abundant with native trees, plants and wildlife. The volunteer opportunities at this site include but are not limited to: brush clearing, fence repairs, plant and animal surveys, site cleanup, and program development.
