The next step is to complete an application to the Texas Park and Wildlife Department volunteer program. This includes several key elements: 1) Background check, requiring disclosure of your Driver’s License Number; 2) Liability Waiver; 3) Code of Ethics; and 4) Standards of Conduct.
By completing this part of the process you understand that membership in the Master Naturalist program is contingent upon passing a background check in order to better assure the safety of our youth and adults. The online forms for Background Check Authorization and Liability Waiver must be completed before class begins. Volunteer service cannot commence until background check is completed.
Proceed to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s state program volunteer application at https://tpwd.samaritan.com/recruiter/. Once on the state program volunteer application page:
- Click on the Blue Box that says “Sign Up” located in the middle of the page.
- On the next page, click on the Blue Box that says “Apply to become a Volunteer” located at the bottom of the page.
When the Membership Director receives your training course application, she will contact you with more information.
