In approximately six months with LPMN, I have already “heard” (to one extent or another) several speakers who would have benefited greatly from amplification, perhaps in the form of a wearable microphone.
There are several aspects to the issue. Older buildings, e.g. Red Rock Community Center and Bastrop Refectory, while wonderful buildings and meeting places, have marginal acoustics for large groups. Also, some speakers simply do not project well, have soft voices, drop their voices at the end of sentences, mumble and/or look down or turn to the screen while they speak. (And eventually some of us may age to the point that hearing starts fading.)
The unfortunate result is that listeners have to work to hear, much less to be sure they heard correctly and to understand. There is frequently much that is not heard or is guessed at.
Why not simply acquire some form of readily available wearable mike and suggest/require all speakers to use it?
I have seen this diffuculty manifest itself on multiple occasions and heard various people mention it. Don’t leave me hanging out here alone. Jump in and let’s get this issue resolved now for meetings we control. (Perhaps even member speakers at Chapter meetings?)
If there are countervailibg considerations, other than initial expense and minor inconvenience, then please bring them to light.
