Basic Training

Master Naturalist basic training consists of Monday evening sessions (6:00-9:00 pm) and several Saturday field sessions.  Each session features one or two speakers, all experts in their fields, who present different components of the Texas Master Naturalist Statewide Curriculum. The curriculum requires a commitment:  keep up with the reading and show up for classes and field trips.  You will find the program challenging, but rewarding.  To truly appreciate the outdoors, you have to first understand it.

LPMN Basic Training class

This training prepares you to expand your knowledge through a variety of volunteer field projects – this is the crux of our purpose for being.  Our program sponsors depend on Lost Pines Master Naturalists to execute selected programs and help educate the public on the importance of caring for our natural environment.  Knowledge itself is not good enough. Only through the application of knowledge do we have the power to make a positive difference.

Our registration for the 2023 class is open on October 15th, 2022. Class size is limited to 25 students. Registration is $150 for one person, or $265 for a couple sharing one training manual. Students must be 18 years or older by January 15, 2023.
