We are hosting a shoreline clean up at the Texas City Prairie Preserve on Friday, May 1st 2015 from 9:00am to 11:30am. Several weeks ago we had a successful clean-up on the spit of the TCPP property near the oystercatcher nests and we are looking to do the same along the accessable parts of the shoreline of Moses lake.
This clean-up effort is in conjunction with a College of the Mainland student workday so:
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â We are limiting TERN volunteer participant numbers to 10 just for this clean up event
–         After the clean-up at TCPP, join us at COM for a free pizza lunch, a presentation by TIRN’s Joanie Steinhaus about sea turtles, and after lunch we will be constructing monofilament recycling tubes
To register for this event, follow the link: http://goo.gl/forms/P1KNTxtyuWÂ
If you are unable to make this date or end up on the waiting list, we are coordinating with Texas City to conduct a much larger clean up event on the Texas City Dike to clean-up the monofilament line, install signs, and install monofilament recycling tubes later in May or the first part of June near the Memorial Day holiday weekend (but not on that holiday weekend). We hope you can join us for this date as well and will be sending an email notification out in just a few weeks.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I will send an email notification to volunteers the Wednesday before this event to notify folks about the sign ups and details of what to bring/wear for this workday.
Thanks!
Kari Howard
