The Nesting Island by Kayak (NICK) chapter team is gearing up for their fall season of transect work and clean-ups focusing on the Galveston area rookery islands. This season we will have students from Dr. Steve Alexander’s class at Texas A&M Galveston join our efforts.   They are planning to join us on our expeditions to Mile Marker 52 and North Deer Island.
Our partnership with Audubon TERN continues. We kicked of the launch of the season with a training course with Audubon TERN to discuss our overall approach on gathering data from the islands, how the data is planned to be used and reviewed both the process and information gathered by the team during last year’s season.
