The 2014 TXMN State Conference in Hunt was truly a memorable experience for our eleven GBAC-TXMN participants. During the conference, a contest is held for best newsletter and photos throughout the state. Our Midden was voted as the best newsletter and John Wright’s spoonbill picture was voted best scenic photo in the state by popular vote of conference participants.
Our chapter also submitted the Junior Naturalist project into the project of the year award . Stennie Meadours with the help of Suzanne Becker and Sara Snell created a striking and informative project board telling the story of the work of the twelve MN and the success/accomplishments of this program in that school. The competition was intense and filled with incredible projects that were done by chapters throughout the state. Each chapter (Stennie) had to tell the story of the project to judges and when the judging was over – we won first prize (cash prize and certificate) – best in the State!
What a weekend filled of advanced training and opportunities to meet and learn from other TXM. More about the conference in our upcoming Midden. Congrats to all our winners and thanks again to everyone for the work you do for our community and the state.
