Join us for a fun and educational Chapter Service Day at Little Cedar Bayou Park on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm!
We’ll be participating in the TXN-Galveston Bay Area Chapter’s annual hawk survey, a fascinating experience where you can witness the migration of raptors firsthand. Expert hawk watchers Lynn and John Wright will be on-site, providing live-action counting and sharing their knowledge. Other experienced hawk watchers will also be available to help newcomers spot, identify, and appreciate these incredible birds. All participants will earn volunteer hours for this event.
In addition to the Hawk Watch, we’ll also have several engaging outreach activities for the community. This is a fantastic opportunity to familiarize yourself with the various activity kits available for Texas Master Naturalists and learn how to staff outreach events. We’ll have tables featuring activities like a shell display, binoculars activity, wing span demonstration, and a TXMN information table. Attendees can earn Volunteer Hours (please record under HAWK WATCH opportunity).
Location: Little Cedar Bayou Park, 600 Little Cedar Bayou Dr., La Porte, TX 77571
Important Location Note: If a Northwest wind is blowing on the morning of the event, we will move to Sylvan Beach. Keep an eye out for last-minute notifications a few days before the event for any location changes.
