Becoming a Texas Master Naturalist

Our mission as Texas Master Naturalists is to develop a corps of well-informed volunteers to provide EDUCATION, OUTREACH, and SERVICE dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within their communities for the State of Texas.

You might find us working in community gardens, pollinator gardens and native plant gardens. We cut new trail and mind established trails. Teaching, especially to the younger generations, are a big part of our mission. Many of us specialize and can be found conducting bird surveys or tagging butterflies and more.

As Texas Master Naturalists, we work in State Parks, County and City parks. In many ways, we are the volunteer arm of our State Parks.

Required Training

To become a Texas Master Naturalist, you complete a 12-week training course, then complete 40 volunteer hours and 8 advanced training hours within 1 year of training To recertify annually, we must each perform 40 hours of service and complete 8 hours of advanced training.
