6 – 7 PM: Talk at Gathering Hall at Herff Farm at 33 Herff Road

Hear about the fascinating world of fungi including our official state mushroom, the hissing Texas Star Mushroom, This rare and unique species, found only in Texas and Japan, is renowned for its distinctive star-shaped appearance and mysterious life cycle. Learn about community programs that are changing the conversation around fungi and its ecological importance in Texas ecosystems.

ABOUT THE WALK GUIDE
Formally an experience designer and animator in the tech world, she hopes to inspire more people dial into the wood-wide-web. Angel Schatz radiates passion for understanding the ecosystem of central Texas and making mycology education accessible to anyone who shares interest. She is a long-time urban gardener; harmonizing vegetable gardening and mushroom growing, particularly by using recycled mushroom blocks. Angel will be bringing mushroom grow blocks to upcycle for everyone in attendance. Learn how to use them here.

Easy-moderate hike with various terrains. Educational program with information about the Texas Star Mushroom. 1 mile round-trip, Possible cancellations due to weather

Water, Camera if desired, Good hiking shoes, raincoat.
