Event Summary: This session will prepare TMN volunteers for leading Golden-cheeked Warbler walks this Spring at the South Llano River State Park.
Event Description: The classroom session will detail bird and call identification techniques. Students will then hike to locations typically frequented by the birds. The session should conclude by noon. The training will be led by Lorissa, the site Interpretive Ranger and local birding expert, Rhandy Helton.
Once TMN trained, the attendees will have the volunteer opportunity to lead Golden-cheeked Warbler walks, hosted by the South Llano River SP this Spring. The dates for these walks will be scheduled and posted on the HCTMN calendar later.
Rhandy Helton is retired from TPWD where he worked for inland fisheries as an Ichthyologist. He is a long time birder, birding guide, who is well versed and experienced in bird identification in Kimble County and the South Llano River State Park.
