We are excited to share a RACA volunteer opportunity with you! We will be conducting a work day at our Maso-Llan Rd RACA site. This site is one of our most visited, and it needs some maintenance. We’d appreciate the extra hands on this to ensure this site is set up for success well before the spring foot traffic begins. I’ve attached some pictures of the areas of focus and all the info you need can be found below. If you can attend, RSVP by responding to this email so John and I can plan accordingly. Thanks!
When:
10 am-2 pm, Thursday, January 23rd
What we’ll be doing:
Erosion control: Dedicated walkway-install cedar posts steps throughout the pictured foot trail which leads to the bridge, giving visitors a clear path to follow and preventing erosion. Address other areas of washout.
Foot Bridge repair: Remove warped wood and install new planks on the footbridge. Cut materials on site. Install support under the bridge.
Sign installation: Parking area boundary-Install new chain/posts to create a boundary for vehicle access. Install posts and signage in designated areas.
Where we’ll be doing it:
4373 Maso-Llan Rd, 4.3 miles down Maso-Llan Rd from Hwy 29. Careful of the Google directions, depending on which way you are coming, it tries to send you down Llano River Rd, but not a good idea, it does not go through. Take Maso-Llan Rd from 29.
What you need to do:
Please dress for the weather and tasks. Expect cold and windy conditions, and be prepared to get your hands dirty. Please bring a reusable water bottle, we will have a water cooler on site for refilling. Bring a field lunch to eat on site.
That’s all for now. RSVP to tonyplutino@gmail.com and please let John or myself know if you have any questions. Thank again!
Kind regards,
Madison Darwish
