Devil’s Sinkhole State Natural Area
Located near Rocksprings, TX, the Devil’s Sinkhole State Natural Area consists of 1,860 acres typical of the Edwards Plateau. Deeply cut canyons are on the southern end of the site. These canyons support trees such as escarpment black cherry, Buckley oak, Lacey oak and pinyon pine. Plateau live oak dominates the uplands.
Lots to see at the Devil’s Sinkhole
The Devil’s Sinkhole is typically home to one of Texas’ largest colonies of Mexican free-tailed bats and is a National Natural Landmark. The State Natural Area has trails, bird blinds, and some of the best dark sky in the state.


Opportunities

- Assist with Developing and Delivering Interpretive Offerings – Birding, Plant/Grass ID, Dark Sky, Hikes, etc.
- Maintenance Workdays – Trail repair, Mowing/Trimming, Brush Clearing, Bird Blind Maintenance, etc.
All new volunteers will have to complete orientation and training prior to starting.
