8/26/2026 from Andy Blair about his spreadsheet: “All of the ratings (sun preference, water needs, soil preferences, etc.) are based on a combination of internet sources (e.g. wildflower.org, NAS) and my own experience with them in the field. I also tried to capture information about which species I’ve seen available commercially, though many of them are only available occasionally or in small quantities. Every time people ask me what plants are best for their restoration project or landscape, I have to give them a list of plants that are mostly not available to purchase, which is really frustrating. My main hope in spreading information about these species is that more folks will get excited, collect local seeds, and start growing/propagating them so that more species and local ecotypes are available to everyone.” Great resource for folks wanting to add grasses to their property!
