“When selecting the correct opportunity title for your volunteer activity, always reference the opportunity description, provided by Projects, at the top of the survey form, to ensure you are selecting the correct one. If in doubt, please contact the Projects Director at [email protected] for assistance.”

A reminder for all LMNs who are providing public education: Please track and report the number of people you impact when you are providing public outreach such as speaking, teaching, leading a tour, serving as a docent, hosting an LMN booth, or doing other kinds of presentations to the public. Since Outreach is an important part of our mission we need to keep track of all the good work we are doing! Please designate the leader of the project or one person from the event to report the number of children and adults in the VMS Impact Data. Thank you!

Suggestions for Using VMS:
- Go to MY PLACEMENTS. This will give you some descriptions of chapter approved activities and help you find the best code to use for recording.
- In MY PLACEMENTS – you can delete opportunities that you do not ever intend to use.
- Contact the Projects Director to add AT or VH opportunities.
- Be sure to fill in the description box on the Report Your Service page. Keep it simple, but tell what you did and list the location first using the initials provided in the Opportunity Description. If there are no initials provided you must spell out the location. You may not use: same as yesterday, ditto, or such wording. Auditors will not accept those types of statements.
Guidelines
- All chapter meetings count as 1-hour VH (plus travel) and 1 hour for AT.
- Travel time rule: Count all travel time as long as it does not exceed the amount of time spent performing the actual volunteer opportunity.
- AT; Real time webinars count as long as the content is pertinent to Texas MN topics. Archived or recorded webinars are not permitted unless under special circumstances (ask Projects Committee). Of the 8 hours of AT required yearly, all 8 can be from webinars.
- Webinars are logged under AT: Online Training.
Online training must be interactive, with some component of a teacher/student interface: real-time webinars; quizzes; contact between student and instructor.
- In-person training is logged under AT: Chapter Approved.
AT & VH must be approved by Projects prior to participating
