On Saturday, April 29, Brandon Belcher of The Nature Conservancy hosted a group of about 35 guests on a chilly morning tour of Clymer Meadow.

He showed us some early blooming wildflowers and discussed the management of the Meadow that consists of prescribed burning and mowing as well as upcoming volunteer opportunities for BPTIMN members including fence removal and seed gathering.

We saw many things just starting to bloom and he discussed the history of the meadow and a recent acquisition of land that has been long in the making.

We were serenaded by Dicksisels and saw Eastern Kingbirds while the Meadow intern, Madison, gave us more information on their nesting habits.

As we meandered through the meadow, Brandon discussed the different plants growing in the various areas due to their needs for water, etc.

Overall, it was a lovely trip, well worth the drive. Watch the calendar for two more opportunities to see this fabulous Meadow later in May 20 and in June 3!
