VOL – Dick Benoit Prairie Preserve Work Day

October 19, 2022 @ 8:30 am - 11:30 am

Dick Benoit Prairie Preserve Work Day – Wednesday, October 19, 8:30 am – 11:30 am
Please join us at the Dick Benoit Prairie (named for our chapter’s FOUNDER) in League City for a morning of invasive plant removal, plant identification and volunteer service. The prairie is located at the southeast corner of the intersection of SH 96 and Marbella Parkway, just west of SH 146. Parking is on Marbella Parkway. Dress appropriately for the weather and conditions (hats, long sleeves/pants, gloves, boots/closed toe shoes are recommended). Bring a reusable water bottle; water will be available for refilling your bottle. Don’t forget bug spray and sunscreen! A limited number of tools will be on hand, but if you have garden loppers, hand-pump sprayers, pruning saws, gloves, safety goggles, etc. please bring them. For those not able to participate in invasive plant removal we have a need for continuing our BioBlitz efforts via iNaturalist to document the flora and fauna of this important tall grass coastal prairie. This event is approved for volunteer service credit. Members please use the opportunity ‘Natural Resources Mgmt – Other’ for your volunteer service hours. Please contact Lisa Hardcastle at [email protected] to RSVP or if you have questions.
