VOL – Ghirardi Water Smart Park Demonstration
On Saturday, September 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Ghirardi Water Smart Park will be featured in the League City Garden Tour! The park is located at 1910 Louisiana Ave. in League City.
We would like to have Master Naturalists at the park to share with the public the park’s unique features which help with storm water runoff!
This park was a demonstration project between Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and the City of League City. The park provides examples of water conservation, complete with a rain garden, water cisterns, outdoor classroom, native plant life, educational signage, a green-roof pavilion, and even the famous Moon Shine Tree!
The Ghirardi Water Smart Park has plenty of shade and picnic benches for the Master Naturalists to enjoy visiting with people as they tour the sites!
A field training will be held prior to Sept. 30 to inform volunteers of the features of the park! Contact Julie for more information.
Shifts to volunteer are:
- 9:45 a.m. – noon
- noon – 2:00 p.m.
- 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
