VOL – GISP tallow removal
Date and Time: Saturday, December 17th, 08:00 am to 12:00 pm
Coastal Prairie Restoration is “The Big Game” at Galveston Island State Park. We are seeking volunteers for an event to remove invasive Chinese Tallow. Chinese Tallow are a nonnative tree species that unfortunately thrives quite well in Texas. They produce a lot of seeds that are spread by birds and send out roots to grow into new trees. If left unchecked, the coastal prairie would turn into a Tallow forest. Removing these invasive trees from the park is a crucial step in restoring the prairie.
