VOL – Hawkwatch at Smith Point

John and I will be counting at GCBO’s Smith Point Hawk Watch again this
year. John will lead the counts on September 5 and 19, October 10 and 24,
and November 7. If you are interested in joining us on the tower any of those days, we would
love to have you. I expect that we will see the most raptors on October 10
but most days at Smith Point have great birding. Here is a link to their

It is a bit of a hike to Smith Point but well worth it, especially if you
can carpool with a friend. We will be counting from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm (but
you do not need to be there the whole time). You would need to bring your
usual hawk watch gear (binocs, chair, hat, sunscreen, water) plus snacks and
a sack lunch. There is a clean porta-potty on site.
