VOL – Stormwater Wetland Thursday

This Thursday: February 19, 9am-12

We have Juncus species available for sprigging and potting plus there will likely be some prep (cutting fabric squares) for the “bulrush balls” to be deployed at the upcoming Pearland Nature Center wetland planting event on March 7. See the note below.

The nursery is near 1801 Neptune Lane, Clear Lake City (Houston) 77062. Park along the street near the bridge (from which you can see the nursery) and take the northeast trail.

Last week:

Cullen reports that the team decided to keep preparing “bulrush bomb” materials for the Pearland planting event, rather than switching to potting up plants.  They wound up getting enough materials ready for somewhere around 250-300 pots! Great job, Sandra, Jerry, Ray, Lydia, Peggy and Pete! And a welcome to our new volunteer, Paula.

Thursday Feb 26: Prep for Pearland Nature Center planting

Thursday March 5: Prep for Pearland Nature Center planting, onsite and at the nursery

Saturday March 7 & 8: Plant the floating wetlands and habitat wetlands for the Pearland Nature Center. A flyer, prepared by the City of Pearland, is in production and will be sent in a separate notice soon.

Note: GBAMN spring training began Feb 12. Some of you may be involved in that effort and please know that training comes first. We will be here when you get back!
