This Thursday: May 28, 9am-12
We will not be collecting plants at Pine Brook Wetland as planned–the water is too deep! If there is no significant rain, we will meet at the nursery. If there is significant rain or lightining, we will meet at the TCWP office to work with our coastal prairie seed stocks.
The office is at 1250 Bay Area Blvd, Suite C, Houston (Clear Lake City), 77058.
The nursery is near 1801 Neptune Lane, Clear Lake City (Houston) 77062. Park along the street near the bridge (from which you can see the nursery) and take the northeast trail.
Last week:
More Lizard tail/Saururus cernuus was propagated, adding about 120 more plants! Also, the plants for the upcoming second MD Anderson stormwater wetland were selected and made ready to go. Thank you, Joe, Chris, Ray, and Lydia.
Thursday afternoon, Mary Carol hosted a roundtable discussion meeting for the stormwater wetland program at the Galveston Bay Estuary Program offices. Folks from a range of agencies and institutions provided valuable suggestions on the future, focus, and funding of the program. Paula Swearingen shared her analysis of the Clear Creek watershed for ideal candidate stormwater wetland sites. Thank you Paula, Joe, Martha, Don, and Chris for your presence and participation!
