This session will focus on families of diurnal and nocturnal raptors (falcons, hawks, owls, etc.) with ID tips for species common along the Upper Texas Coast and other parts of Texas. As always, we’ll share our personal videos to illustrate how you can use behavior to help with identification and provide tips and tricks you can put to immediate use in the field.

We’ve created this fun virtual workshop series based on our personal videos to help you gain confidence in the field, from the comfort of your home!

We’ll build upon your skills from week to week, as you learn and practice:

• Valuable observation techniques you can use in the field
• Tips and tricks for differentiating between similar species
• How to use behavioral clues to help with identification
• How to find more species using habitat clues
• Ways to remember songs/calls of common species

Workshops are designed to be interactive, and you will get the most benefit from participating live. All classes are recorded, however, so if you miss one you can just view the video to get caught up!

Note: While our focus is on species common along the Upper Texas Coast, many of these species can be seen in other regions of North America. Many of the ID tips and tricks and information about using behavioral and habitat clues can be applied no matter where you live!
